St Patricks Church

St. Patrick's Parish dates back to 1854 when Fr Nickolds OP of Holy Cross built a school chapel committed to St. Patrick in Royal East Street. This school chapel continued to be served by the Dominicans until 1894 when the Mission was handed over to the Bishop of Nottingham and Fr. Hawkins became the 1st Parish Priest. In July 1920 Fr. Holland who was then Parish Priest purchased land earmarked for a chapel of ease committed to Our Lady in Canon Street and later the same year a house was bought to serve as a presbytery.
